WHAT IS IELTS?
The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) is

WHAT IS THE TEST FORMAT?
There are four components in IELTS (LISTENING, READING,

ACADEMIC TRAINING
LISTENING:
There are 4 sections with 10 questions each; the time given is
approximately 30 minutes and 10 minutes to transfer the answers. An applicant
can hear the recording only once. The recordings consist of a range of accents,
including British, Australian, New Zealand, American and Canadian.
READING:
There are 3 reading passages with a multiplicity of
questions using a number of task types with 40 questions; the time given is 60
minutes. Reading passages are taken from books, journals, magazines, and
newspapers, and have been written for a non-specialist audience.
WRITING: There are 2 Writing tasks.
Task type and format
In Writing Task 1, aspirants may be asked to illustrate
facts or figures presented in one or more graphs, charts or tables on a related
topic; or they may be given a diagram of a machine, a device or a process and
asked to explain how it works. The time allotted for this task will be 20 minutes.
They are asked to write at least 150 words.
In Writing Task 2, candidates are given a topic to write. Answers should be a
discursive thought of the pertinent issues. Test takers should be in no doubt
that they read the task carefully and provide a full and relevant retort. The time allotted for this task will be 40 minutes. They are asked to write at least 250
words
SPEAKING:
The Speaking test consists of an oral interview between an
aspirant and an examiner. All Speaking tests are recorded. Time allotted is
11-14 minutes. There are 3 parts of speaking that includes Introduction, Main
Topic and Cross questioning.
